Nursing in 2030 with Update

What I Learned
The nurse  has so many different occupations that it can stream into.  The nurse is so flexible and having an understanding on the pulse of technology can be a great advantage.  Technology usually passes through the hands of the medical profession very often.  It is when this technology changes medicine, technique, and quality of care do we adopt en masse.  The nurse is usually the first people who must adapt and educate using the new technology.  It has given me a greater appreciation for what is available today and made me aware that the future will have many changes in store for us.

Why was this article, blog, post, or multimedia chosen?
This article focuses on the role of IT in the healthcare workplace and how nurses are entering these new roles.  I also hope that this article is also one of our classmates Fiona and the last name is just a typo.
What makes it interesting, appropriate, or reputable?
I found this article interesting because it concentrates on the emergence of IT, the community health nurse, and other healthcare professionals all rolled into one.  It is the merging of different worlds to help deliver care in a wider arrangement that thought possible.
Is it an opinion? Case study? Research study? Product review?
It is an opinion.  It is actually an interview with Fiona Stephens and they ask her a multitude of questions about nurses and how they fit into the new roles.  Her opinion is expressed throughout.
What was the need, problem, issue or trend addressed in the article, blog, post, or multimedia?
The issue being addressed is “What roles are being produced from the convergence of healthcare and technology?”  Another question is “Are these the right personnel for the roles offered?”  This article also concentrates on the ability to train and provide the necessary resources to get a community healthcare practice underway.
What was the solution for which technology had an answer?
The technology provided a cost saving incentive to keep patients connected to the health of themselves and the medical providers.  This is important to help establish a rapport with the patient and keep the patient experience engaging when adjusting to new lifestyle changes.
What implications might this have in healthcare delivery?
This kind of community healthcare is a focus on how nursing knowledge, practice, and education can change in format but still be effective.  It shows that as the world of healthcare is changing so can the roles of the people who work within it.
What did you learn from it that might have application for your practice?
This article has helped me learn about the importance of informatics in the future of healthcare and how the community can benefit from the services offered on a different size and scale.  This is all-important in the end when healthcare might change to less acute facilities and more preventative operations.
